Heyl Royster’s Intellectual Property Practice builds on our attorneys’ extensive knowledge of commercial and transactional law to provide clients with a spectrum of wide-ranging, business-focused intellectual property services. By developing an understanding of each client’s business objectives, we bring a pragmatic, cost-effective approach to all aspects of intellectual property matters.

Some areas where we can be of assistance include:

Intellectual Property Protection/Prosecution
We help clients to develop and enforce strategies for protecting and monetizing ideas and inventions under patent, trade secret, and copyright laws. We assist clients with managing their intellectual property assets and determine whether patent protection is a practical and reasonable option for their business. We also evaluate, structure, and draft a wide variety of patent transfer, technology licensing, and intellectual property commercialization agreements.

Trademarks
Heyl Royster advises clients on trademark law issues including protecting, licensing, and enforcing trademark rights to guard against infringers. We assist clients in evaluating proposed trademarks as well as with trademark searches, opinions, and registrations.

Privacy and Data Security
Consistent with our Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Practice, we work with clients across a broad range of industries to implement privacy and data security protection programs, including drafting policies and procedures.

Employment Related IP Issues
Our extensive experience advising clients on employment-related issues involving intellectual property includes enforcing confidentiality and non-competition agreements and resolving issues related to the ownership of intellectual property.

Intellectual Property Disputes and Litigation
Our attorneys represent clients in intellectual property disputes, patent, trademark, and copyright infringement proceedings, and trade secret disputes. We also help clients enforce and defend their rights to use intellectual property.
