Robert Tenney (Associate)

Robert is a member of the Intellectual Property, Casualty/Tort Litigation, and Business and Commercial Litigation Practices. He has experience in both civil and criminal litigation, including extensive motion and hearing experience.

Immediately prior to joining Heyl Royster, Robert was an associate at a general practice firm, focusing on personal injury, workers’ compensation, and family law matters. He has handled a variety of cases, including motor vehicle accidents, workers’ compensation claims, DUIs, misdemeanor and felony matters, HIPAA issues, parenting and children’s issues, and matters involving juvenile abuse and neglect. Robert has handled cases in a number of counties in Central Illinois and in federal court in the Central District of Illinois.

Robert is a 2011 graduate of the Dayton School of Law, cum laude, where he received the CALI Excellence Award in International Intellectual Property Law, Trade Secret Law, Advanced Civil Procedure, and Legislation. In 2012, he received his LLM from Dayton School of Law in Intellectual Property; Commercialization. Robert received his B.A. from the University of Southern California, double majoring in Economics and Political Science. During his third year of law school, Robert worked as a legal extern at law firm in Dayton, OH, where he primarily assisted on patent and trademark prosecution matters. During his second year of law school he worked as a legal intern at Teradata, where he researched case law and defenses for patent and trade secret litigation.

Significant Cases

  • Robert successfully resolved a dissolution of marriage matter involving a family corporation resulting in a property settlement of $1.5 million.
