Attorneys
Laura practices in several areas of litigation, including professional liability, tort and casualty litigation, civil rights, and products liability. She is experienced in handling initial case assessment, pleadings, discovery, and motions practice. Having concentrated her undergraduate major in pre-med studies, Laura focuses her practice on defending medical entities, physicians, and other health care providers against medical negligence claims. She has represented physicians, long-term care facilities, industrial manufacturers, and premises owners. While in law school, Laura was a member of several student organizations including the Women’s Law Association and Health Law Association. She also acted as an Articles Editor for the University of Illinois Law Review. Her Note was published in the Law Review in 2017. Laura also earned the CALI Award for the highest grade in Domestic Violence clinic, where she represented survivors of domestic violence seeking orders of protection in court. Prior to law school, Laura worked as a victim/witness advocate in the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office in Springfield. She returned there after her 2L year to work as a law clerk, using her 711 license to represent the state in traffic and misdemeanor cases. Before joining Heyl Royster, Laura worked as a Discovery Counsel at MoloLamken LLP, where she developed and implemented discovery strategy in complex litigation as well as government and internal investigations.
