Larry joins Heyl Royster from a large St. Louis based defense firm where he was a shareholder and chaired the Transportation Team. He devotes his legal practice to representing local, regional, and national carriers throughout the litigation process. Larry works with trucking clients in all aspects of their business including immediate response investigations, safety policies/training, regulatory compliance, and general risk management. His knowledge and dedication to the transportation industry has earned Larry the trust of his clients such that he is called upon to serve as lead counsel in high-exposure and difficult losses. He has successfully tried cases to verdict and reached negotiated outcomes in what are widely considered some of the most difficult defense venues in the country. During high school, college, and law school, Larry gained unique insight into the challenges faced by drivers as he worked delivering linen in large commercial trucks for a family run business.

Larry serves the industry through his involvement with the Missouri and Illinois Trucking Associations. He is a Missouri Trucking Association Board Member and is a graduate of the Illinois Trucking Leadership Program. Larry’s involvement in these associations has included multiple trips to state capitols and meetings with legislatures where he advocated for needed reforms to protect the industry from predatory litigation practices. Larry serves on the Defense Research Institute Trucking Executive Committee and is the Trucking Committee’s Podcast Chair. Larry speaks to local, statewide, and national audiences about risk mitigation and litigation strategies for transportation companies.

Larry’s practice also includes defending high exposure and catastrophic products liability cases involving a variety of products including trailers, heavy machinery, electrical components, and consumer goods. He has significant experience with a wide range of fire science and premises liability matters.
