Maria focuses her practice defending clients in Toxic Torts & Asbestos and Casualty/Tort Litigation.
Maria Mengarelli joined Heyl Royster’s Edwardsville office in 2021 after earning her J.D. from Southern Illinois University School of Law, and her B.A. from the University of Missouri where she majored in Linguistics. Maria worked in a variety of legal positions throughout her time in undergrad and law school. While at the University of Missouri, she interned in the Human Resources department at Armstrong Teasdale Law and as a student intern at Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance. Maria was a summer law clerk for two years with Simmons Hanly Conroy Law and spent two years as a research law clerk for Prince Law.
Maria served as co-director of the Boys and Girls Club of America SIU Law Affiliate where she managed the school's involvement, was co-president of the Debate Team and created and led weekly debate team meetings. Additionally, she participated in Trial Academy and served as a Corps Member for AmeriCorps Jumpstart.
