Heyl, Royster, Voelker & Allen, P.C., a regional law firm, based in Peoria, IL, with over 100 attorneys in eight offices, is seeking qualified applicants for a Payroll Specialist in our Peoria office.
Essential functions include:

Enters, maintains, and processes information in the payroll system

Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, and other deductions

Reconcile payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statement
-
Issues physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge
-
Record and process federal and state payroll tax deposits
-
Identify, recommend and advise management of improvements that can be made to software, systems, and procedures
-
Communicate professionally and provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers
Successful candidates should possess the following:

Extensive knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, and payroll taxes
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
-
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
-
Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software
-
Effective oral and written communication skills
-
Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work
-
Ability to handle stress and meet deadlines
Qualifications include:

High school diploma or equivalent required
-
Three to five years of experience in similar role
