Schwab Presents on Premises and Social Host Liability

On July 18, Gary Schwab (Springfield) gave a presentation on "Premises Liability and Social Host Liability" at the Sangamon County Bar Association's "Summer Liability Law Update." The first part of his presentation focused on legislative and state and federal court updates concerning the legal duties owed by premises owners to entrants. In the section of the presentation covering social host liability, Gary noted that although Illinois does not recognize social host liability, "the analysis of potential liability for social hosts does not end with this seemingly insurmountable pronouncement by the Illinois Supreme Court." Mike Denning (Rockford) and Gary Pinter (Edwardsville) assisted with the presentation.
