Peoria Attorneys Present Program on Restrictive Covenants in Employment Agreements


On Thursday, July 19, Deb Stegall and Greg Rastatter presented a Lunch & Learn session for business clients. Their topic was "Restrictive Covenants in Employment Agreements." These covenants seek to prevent a former employee from unfairly competing against the employer or soliciting the employer's customers once the employment ends. A significant Illinois Supreme Court decision late last year clarified the scope of factors that courts are to consider in deciding whether to enforce such covenants. Following certain strategies will increase the strength and enforceability of restrictive covenants and help employers maintain the confidentiality of the sensitive information on an ongoing basis.
