Partner Renee Monfort Featured in Leading Lawyers Magazine

The recently published "Top Women Lawyers in Illinois" issue of Leading Lawyers Magazine featured a profile on partner Renee Monfort entitled "Mastering Medicine and Law in Health Care Defense." The article praises Renee for her strong work ethic – learned from growing up on a farm in Farmer City, IL – and credits her fascination with medicine to her father, who was an equine veterinarian, and her mother, who was a nurse.

Renee's practice is focused on representing healthcare professionals in medical malpractice actions and before the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR). She also counsels healthcare providers on policy and risk management. Renee started practicing medical malpractice law with a Champaign, IL law firm. She assumed primary responsibility for the firm's medical malpractice litigation at age 33, following the untimely death of her senior partner.

In 2009, Renee joined Heyl Royster for its "decades-long reputation as a premier professional liability defense law firm, but also for the caliber of attorneys she'd come to know and respect there over the years," the article notes.

Renee continues to gracefully juggle many roles, including as attorney, mother, adjunct professor at the University of Illinois College of Law, and animal lover. The article concluded by quoting Renee saying, "…you can do it all, you just can't do it all at once."
