Elward Sworn In as President of the Appellate Lawyers Association


On June 13, partner Brad A. Elward was installed as the President of the Appellate Lawyers Association. The Honorable William E. Holdridge, Justice of the Illinois Appellate Court, Third District, administered the oath of office to Elward at a ceremony held at the Union League Club in Chicago.

In becoming the 46th President of the Association, Elward joins other attorneys from the firm, Karen Kendall and Craig Unrath, Chair of the firm's Appellate Advocacy Practice, who have served as president of the ALA.

Elward's focus on appellate practice has a significant sub-concentration in workers' compensation appeals. He has authored more than 275 briefs and argued more than 125 appellate court cases, resulting in more than 65 published decisions. He has appeared before every Illinois Appellate Court District and has significant experience with interlocutory appeals. He has authored amicus curiae briefs before the Illinois Supreme Court on behalf of the Association of Illinois Defense Trial Counsel. Elward has also written and published nine books and more than 30 articles on naval aviation and military-related topics.
