Tobin Taylor Named Managing Partner of Firm's Chicago Office

Heyl Royster announces that Tobin Taylor has been named the Managing Partner of the firm's Chicago office.

Mr. Taylor's practice is concentrated on the defense of claims alleging asbestos exposure or other toxic torts arising from environmental or occupational contact, including product liability and premises liability claims. His primary practice venue is Cook County, IL, where he regularly serves as lead counsel in the defense and management of complex, multi-party cases.

"Tobin is a great leader and he will make a great addition to our Chicago team," said Gary Nelson, the firm's Managing Partner. "His 18 years of trial experience and defense of clients in asbestos and toxic tort claims in the Chicago area have more than prepared him for this role."

Mr. Taylor's varied litigation experience also includes defending employers, municipalities, and government entities before administrative agencies and in state and federal courts in actions alleging employment discrimination and civil rights violations. He has also defended numerous healthcare professionals in cases alleging medical malpractice. Earlier in his career, Mr. Taylor tried many personal injury cases involving motor vehicle accidents or premises liability. In addition to his new role as the Chicago office Managing Partner, Mr. Taylor serves as the firm's Hiring Partner.

"I am very excited about helping the firm expand our presence in the Chicago area," said Mr. Taylor. "We have long enjoyed the trust of our clients to represent their interests in Chicago and view the growth of this office as natural way to better serve their needs. My family is sad to leave a wonderful community like Peoria, but we are excited about the new experiences that relocation will bring. On a more personal note, I am pleased to significantly reduce my daily commute."

Mr. Taylor is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell, is listed as a Leading Lawyer in Illinois, and in 2011 he was named an Illinois Super Lawyers "Rising Star." Mr. Taylor received his J.D. from Washington University School of Law in 1996 and a B.S., magna cum laude, from Bradley University.
