Clayton & Mool Author Updates to Latest Volumes in The Law of Medical Practice in Illinois


Heyl Royster attorneys Roger Clayton and Deanna Mool authored or added updates in the recently released The Law of Medical Practice in Illinois, 3d, 2019 edition, Volumes 21 and 22, published by Thomson Reuters. Roger authored/updated sections 30:34 through 30:37 in Chapter 30: Liability Law, of volume 22. Deanna authored/updated the Telehealth and Telemedicine portion of Chapter 15, sections 15:2, of volume 21.

This publication is a comprehensive resource for professionals involved with the Illinois healthcare system, providing relevant research and authority for medical litigation. It includes discussion of current bioethical issues and fundamental changes at the state and federal levels and in the private sector. Among the many areas covered, focus is given to the changes that have occurred in healthcare over the past several years.

Roger is the Chair of the firm’s statewide Healthcare Practice and Professional Regulation/Licensure Practice, and co-Vice Chair of the Qui Tam (Whistleblower) Practice. His primary focus is healthcare law. Roger’s extensive litigation experience includes defending more than 700 medical and hospital cases, taking a significant number to verdict. Roger has taught master's-level courses in healthcare law and is a frequent national speaker on healthcare issues, medical malpractice, and risk prevention to insurers, medical associations, professional groups, and healthcare institutions. Deanna is focused on transactional and regulatory issues for small business and healthcare providers. She has represented hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, physicians, audiologists, nurses and other healthcare professionals. She has assisted more than 200 clients with HIPAA compliance and advises clients regarding HIPAA breach compliance.
