Giving Back During the Holidays

In past years, Heyl Royster's offices supported numerous charities and causes during the holiday season. This year was no different, and the need was that much greater due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Champaign office wanted to continue their annual tradition of sponsoring a family through the local division of the Salvation Army. The Salvation Army had been inundated with requests for assistance this year. The Champaign office sponsored a family of six: 2-year-old twins (boy and girl), a 5-year-old girl, a 7-year-old girl, a 12-year-old girl, and their mother. They purchased an abundance of clothes, pajamas, shoes, books, and toys for the family (see wrapped presents below). We hope this eased the burden that holidays sometimes put on people, especially in these trying times.

The Edwardsville office participated in the Riverbend Head Start's annual "Coats for Kids Collection Drive," which they have previously donated. This year, their annual drive was held virtually. The Edwardsville office raised and donated $885. That money will help to provide approximately 35 kids with warm coats and winter gear from head to toe.

In the Peoria office, several people donated money and gifts to the PCBA Young Lawyers Committee's "Project Santa." This charity event pairs members of the community with the South Side Mission to provide multiple gifts for up to 50 children, as well as to support the South Side Mission holiday season through additional monetary donations for winter clothes, school supplies, gift cards, and electronics for the children to use at the South Side Mission.

The Rockford office participated in the "Adopt-An-Angel" program. They were given gift tags with children’s names who are in foster care and bought gifts for them. This program is put on annually by the Winnebago/Boone Foster Care Alliance, which is made up of many local agencies. Unfortunately, these tough times have led to an increase in the number of children in need in the community. With the help of our Rockford office, the Winnebago/Boone Foster Care Alliance was able to make sure local foster children would enjoy Christmas this year!
